{The Importance of Staircases in Interior Planning
Stairs are indispensable in design, serving as both a practical requirement and a design statement. From sleek designs to grand designs, stairs come in a range of styles to fit any space. From space-saving Spiral stairs to grand Curved designs, there’s a staircase to fit any space or vision.
{U-Shaped Stairway Designs: A Example of Elegance
U-shaped stairway designs are known for their two matching flights and a central landing that switches direction. This option is often found in spacious homes or public spaces with ample vertical room. The U-shape combines a impressive look with a footprint that maximises available space. The middle landing provides a place to rest and can be designed with displays. U-shaped staircases radiate luxury and are often seen in luxurious or traditional interiors.
{Curved Stairway Designs: Combining Elegance and Purpose
A Curved staircase features a graceful, curving design that adds a element of elegance to any space. Unlike Spiral stairs, Curved designs offer a smoother ascent. Curved stairway designs are a signature element in grand homes, classic properties, or luxury hotels, where they make an impact as a focal point. The detailed construction of Curved stairway designs makes them more costly than other types. The result is a stunning structural feature that transforms the design of a space.
{The Contemporary Charm of Floating Stairs
Floating staircases, also known as cantilevered stairs, are a contemporary and minimalist design that creates the illusion of stairs "floating" in mid-air. The floating effect is created by attaching the treads to a concealed structure, removing obtrusive supports. Floating staircases are a popular choice in sleek design, as they add to the airy vibe of a home. The clean design of Floating stairway designs allows other design elements, like decor, to become focal points. While stunning, Floating staircases require precise engineering to ensure they are safe and secure.
{Spiral Stairway Designs: Transforming Tight Rooms
These stairway designs feature a helical design, with stairs spiralling around a central support. This design is great for small spaces, like lofts, where conventional stairway designs are bulky. This option is often constructed from materials like wood, offering stylish aesthetic opportunities. These stairway designs are compact but may pose challenges for people with physical limitations or heavy loads. Their unique look makes them a favoured option for improving the aesthetic appeal of a space.
{Bifurcated Stairs: A Emblem of Luxury
This style of stair is defined by its balanced design, often used in large homes. Bifurcated staircases include a central flight that splits into two at a break, often bending away from each other. This option is known for its dramatic and impressive presence, often chosen for formal settings. The balanced design ensures a balanced appearance, often enhanced by ornate balustrades or chandeliers. While they require significant space and cost, Bifurcated stairway designs are a classic sign of elegance.
{The Classic Importance of Staircases in Design
Beyond their utility, stairs are a celebration of creative innovation and craftsmanship. From compact and utilitarian to luxurious and ornate, stairway designs can be adapted to suit any room or aesthetic. Thousands of homes could have 'unsafe staircases'
Thousands of council homes could have potentially dangerous staircases which need to be replaced.
Newcastle City Council said more than 3,000 homes and 57 block of flats have staircases with horizontal guarding which can pose a risk to children climbing up the panels and either falling or becoming trapped.
The authority said the design, now banned under modern building standards, was a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
